Jack's Ridge [Davao City] - March 2008}

The land on which Jack's Ridge now stand once formed part of the headquarters of the retreating Japanese forces towards the end of World War II. The Americans had landed in Davao on May 1, 1945, forcing the Japanese to beat a path to Matina Hills where they had a commanding view of the Davao Gulf where the American ships were anchored. -- taken from this link.

I'd like to think that this telescope was already there during the World War II and was used by the Japanese in their fight against the Americans. What a treat it would be if I actually photographed something that belonged during that time. It may be a far shot but who knows?:) Now that Jack's Ridge has become a popular destination for tourists, the telescope is used for those who want a better view of of the city lights below. A look costs only 10 PHP per 3 minutes(if I remember correctly).

lomo?

{Bang Pa In Palace - Aug 2008}

For some time now, I have been intrigued with lomography. I wanted to purchase any lomo cam I could find on the internet. Unfortunately, there were no suppliers here in Cebu. The closest I could get it was in Manila and it would be costly with the shipping and all. After a while of searching meticuously on the net, I decided to hold off on my purchase till I get a chance to go to Manila or HK(which has a lomo shop). In the meantime that I don't have one, I will resort to digital art. A non-lomo pic, lomofied:D looks like a pic taken by a lomo cam:) maka ilad. hehehehe.

{Wihan Luang (Grand Hall) - Ayutthaya, Thailand}

Ayutthaya (full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thai: พระนครศรีอยุธยา, IPA: [aˡjutʰajaː]; also spelled "Ayudhya") city is the capital of Ayutthaya province in Thailand. The city was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong, who came here to escape a smallpox outbreak in Lop Buri, and proclaimed it the capital of his kingdom, often referred to as the Ayutthaya kingdom or Siam. Ayutthaya was named after the city of Ayodhya in India, the birthplace of Rama in the Ramayana (Thai, Ramakien). In 1767 the city was destroyed by the Burmese army, and the ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya historical park, which is recognized internationally as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was refounded a few kilometers to the east. It is estimated that Ayutthaya around ca. 1600 had a population of ca. 300,000, and even 1,000,000 around 1700. In that era Ayutthaya belonged thus to the world's largest cities.

One of the most interesting places I have ever been to. Ayutthaya - The City of ruins. Quite apt for the theme for this week. Touring this place definitely gave me lots of pictures of palace ruins. This is just one of them. Seeing the ruins as it is now makes me wonder if during the time of it's glory, they had available medical resource. Hopefully they did coz dealing with small pox and burns is not easy even to this day.

{University of the Philippines - Oct 08}

My first ever prenup shoot. I think I did fairly well considering it was my first time to do this kind of shooting. I know I still have lots to learn in this forte and definitely need more gadgets to be able to produce pics that is comparable to those I see on the net. Though I do not have plans of making money out of this hobby, I definitely want to excel and produce excellent pics:)

p.s.
special thanks to my pest friend for the post production of my pics:)
