One of my most vivid memories of bonding time with Tatay was when we climbed that very same bell tower when I was a kid. Not everyone was allowed past the door below because of the state the stairs were in, it was prone to accidents not to mention it smelled like batman's cave (eeewwww). Since Tatay knew the "Kampanero" (bell ringer), we were allowed to go up:) it really pays to know people in high places. hehehe. It was an adventure going up with some of the steps were missing. But we still made it safely on top. The view was fantastic, too bad I only got to capture it with my invisible camera.
20 years later, the tower still stands tall with more bat shit and urine (hahaha!). Althought they have restored most of the heritage sites in Argao, the bell tower remains to be closed to anyone who wants to go up. I wonder why that is. Hmmmm... I guess, the memory is all I have of the view and of my adventure with Tatay.
